The motorway, which serves as a vital bypass for the industrial and tourist hub of Ružomberok, encompasses 19 bridges, three interchanges, and the 3.6-km twin-tube Čebrať Tunnel. Given the mountainous geography and extreme seasonal weather, the structural integrity of the concrete remains a primary concern for long-term infrastructure reliability.
Evgeniy Artukh, Director of Penetron Slovakia, noted that the region’s climate demands robust defenses against moisture infiltration and chloride attack. The Penetron System functions by creating an insoluble crystalline network within the concrete’s pores and capillaries. Applied as a topical treatment to bridge curbs, this technology effectively seals the material against water and aggressive chemical agents. By minimizing permeability from within, the system aims to extend the service life of these concrete elements while significantly lowering future maintenance requirements.
