The Louisville-based pharmaceutical firm earned the distinction for its collaborative approach to drug development, specifically regarding the immunotherapy TECELRA. After acquiring the treatment in 2025, US WorldMeds prioritized securing full FDA approval while maintaining close ties with advocacy groups. SFA leadership highlighted this strategy as a blueprint for how industry partners can effectively bridge the gap between clinical innovation and patient needs.
Breck Jones, Jr., President of US WorldMeds, noted that the company treats the award as a shared victory with the survivors and caregivers who have influenced their scientific trajectory. Brandi Felser, CEO of the Sarcoma Foundation of America, praised the company for its ability to prioritize the patient voice in a field that remains historically underserved and underfunded. This recognition follows a previous 2022 award for the development of TECELRA, which is currently used to treat adults and pediatric patients aged 12 and older with unresectable or metastatic synovial sarcoma.
