Gold and Silver Rally as Treasury Yields and Oil Prices Retreat

A cooling U.S. dollar and a sudden drop in global oil prices fueled a rebound in precious metals during Friday’s early trading session. Investors moved back into gold and silver after a week of intense volatility, signaling a temporary shift in sentiment as Treasury yields pulled back from recent highs.

Gold and Silver Rally as Treasury Yields and Oil Prices Retreat

Spot gold climbed 1.27% to trade at $4,184.80 an ounce, while silver outpaced the move with a 2.32% gain, reaching $60.440. The recovery follows a week defined by energy-driven selloffs and persistent rate-hike speculation. Markets remain sensitive to the Federal Reserve’s timeline, with current pricing suggesting an 82% to 83% probability of a rate increase by December, even as the likelihood of an October move lingers between 17% and 19%.

Energy markets provided the primary catalyst for the metal rally. Crude prices retreated after President Donald Trump signaled that the U.S. would avoid military action against Iran prior to the Nov. 3 midterms. This cooling of geopolitical tensions reduced the risk premium that had recently pushed Brent crude above $104 per barrel. With oil trading lower, inflation expectations have softened, alleviating some of the pressure on bullion and providing a more favorable environment for industrial metals like silver. Investors are now shifting their focus toward upcoming consumer sentiment data and inflation reports, which will serve as the next barometer for the resilience of the current market recovery.
