Groupe Dynamite Profit Surges on Retail Expansion

Aggressive retail footprint expansion in the U.S. and U.K. powered a sharp first-quarter profit jump for Montreal-based Groupe Dynamite. The fast-fashion retailer reported net income of C$51.7 million for the period ended May 2, nearly doubling the C$27.3 million profit recorded during the same quarter last year.

The company’s adjusted earnings hit C$0.50 per share, surpassing analyst projections of C$0.44. Total revenue climbed 37% to C$310.6 million, bolstered by a 22.6% increase in comparable sales. Chief Operating Officer Stacie Beaver attributed these gains to the firm’s strategy of securing premium real estate and optimizing its existing store fleet, which saw five new locations debut this quarter under the Garage banner.

Despite the successful rollout, the company is recalibrating its physical growth pace. Management lowered its fiscal 2026 net new store opening target to between eight and 10, down from the previous guidance of 10 to 12. However, the outlook for profitability remains robust: the company upgraded its adjusted EBITDA margin forecast to a range of 38.25% to 39.5%. Revenue growth targets remain steady at 22% to 25%, with comparable store sales growth expected to land between 11% and 14%.
