Tech Mahindra and Telefónica Germany Partner on Private Cloud Platform

Telefónica Germany is pivoting toward a private, cloud-native infrastructure, tapping Tech Mahindra to engineer a scalable Platform-as-a-Service model. The multi-year collaboration aims to dismantle reliance on proprietary virtualization, replacing it with an open architecture designed to handle AI-driven workloads and complex enterprise services across the German market.

The collaboration integrates Tech Mahindra’s platform engineering and AI-first operations with the carrier's broader infrastructure goals. By deploying a unified blueprint featuring compute, storage, and containerized services, the companies intend to build a foundation that supports both legacy telecom functions and modern B2B digital service demands. The platform will also incorporate GPU support and dedicated ransomware protection to bolster security within the new environment.

Harshul Asnani, President and Head of Europe Business at Tech Mahindra, noted that the project focuses on balancing operational efficiency with the flexibility required for rapid digital scaling. For Telefónica Germany, the move represents a shift toward digital sovereignty. Markus Ruwisch, head of infrastructure platforms at the carrier, stated that the architecture is built to withstand evolving enterprise requirements while maintaining tighter control over infrastructure resilience. By utilizing infrastructure-as-code frameworks and automated orchestration, the partners expect to accelerate the transition away from rigid legacy systems, positioning the new platform as a primary engine for future AI-native service delivery in Europe.
