The Defense Department confirmed that the company secured the award by outperforming a rival bidder. While the total ceiling for the project reaches $2 billion, the immediate investment is set at $204 million to cover preliminary research and development throughout the current fiscal year.

The technical operations will be centered in El Segundo, California. With a delivery window stretching toward the end of the next decade, the project is scheduled for completion by September 30, 2035.
