The initiative targets the more than 8 million students participating in approximately 200,000 teams and clubs across the country. By providing the platform at no cost, DistrictWON intends to capture coverage for everything from varsity sports and marching bands to adaptive and unified programs. Beyond simple documentation, the platform offers students hands-on experience in journalism and digital media technology, serving as a functional laboratory for those interested in communications careers.
CEO Peter Fitzpatrick emphasized that the goal extends beyond mere software distribution, focusing instead on ensuring schools of all sizes can document their community-defining moments. To address concerns regarding student privacy, the platform has secured the 1EdTech TrustedED Apps Certification and maintains a presence in the ISTE Learning Technology Directory. Partnerships with the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association and College Sports Communicators further integrate the tool into existing educational structures. Schools looking to adopt the system can now register directly or coordinate with the company’s customer success team.
