The relationship originated with the inaugural Alpha Platoon program, which provided a proof of concept for the coding bootcamp. Greg Glover, one of the original seven graduates, secured an apprenticeship at DRW that same year, setting a precedent for future hiring cycles. Over the following decade, the firm integrated graduates into roles spanning software engineering, data services, and trading infrastructure.
Beyond direct hiring, DRW’s involvement has been hands-on. Employees frequently serve as mentors, resume coaches, and teaching assistants. The firm also provided strategic support for the launch of the AI Cloud and DevOps Engineering program in 2024. According to Rod Levy, founder of Code Platoon, the company has acted as a partner in the fullest sense by remaining involved through every phase of the organization’s growth.
To date, DRW has hosted 31 apprentices and extended 25 full-time offers to military-connected professionals. Alumni such as Army Reserve veteran Michael Orland and Navy veteran Megan Genualdi have transitioned from these apprenticeships into leadership roles within the firm. The partnership will be formally honored on September 23, 2026, during Code Platoon’s 10th-anniversary event at City Winery Chicago.
