The merger combines Atlas-SSI’s broad capabilities in water control, such as screens and gates, with the specialized engineering of Walz & Krenzer. By incorporating WK’s watertight and airtight systems, Atlas-SSI intends to provide a more robust suite of services for tunnels, power plants, and maritime facilities. CEO Paul Lewis noted that the acquisition aligns with the company's growth strategy, emphasizing the synergy between WK’s technical reputation and Atlas-SSI’s nationwide service platform.
Following the acquisition, Walz & Krenzer will retain its leadership, with current owners Ben Rising and Tom Themel continuing in their roles as President and Vice President. Rising stated that the partnership allows the firm to scale its reach while maintaining its core focus on engineering excellence. This consolidation positions the combined entity to address the increasing demand for resilient infrastructure protection in a complex environmental landscape.
