Apple Scales Domestic Manufacturing for Foldable and Pro iPhones

Apple is funneling $100 million into the U.S. manufacturing sector, securing a three-year deal with Pennsylvania’s Perryman Co. to produce titanium for the upcoming iPhone Duo. This shift underscores a broader strategy to anchor the supply chain for the company’s first foldable device and high-end camera systems domestically.

The investment marks a significant expansion of Apple's American Manufacturing Program, moving beyond its traditional reliance on overseas assembly. Perryman Co. will serve as the primary source for the titanium components essential to the structural integrity of the iPhone Duo. Simultaneously, Apple is deepening its ties with Delaware-based Qnity Electronics, which has been tapped to manufacture specialized parts for the advanced camera array featured in the iPhone 18 Pro.

Chief Operating Officer Sabih Khan emphasized that these partnerships are intended to integrate American industrial capabilities into the core architecture of their hardware. By localizing the production of critical components—ranging from chassis materials to optical hardware—the company aims to bolster U.S. job creation while insulating its supply chain against global logistical volatility.
