The company’s quarterly equity production reached 2.166 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, surpassing analyst expectations. This uptick in output was driven largely by a 21% surge in the international segment, with contributions from the Adura project in the UK and Brazil’s Bacalhau field. Conversely, production on the Norwegian continental shelf remained flat, as new wells at Halten East and Verdande were required to balance out unplanned outages at the Troll and Johan Castberg fields.
Financial strength has allowed the company to pivot toward aggressive shareholder returns. Equinor declared a dividend of $0.39 per share and initiated a final 2026 share buyback tranche of up to $1.125 billion. With the adjusted net debt-to-capital-employed ratio dropping to 3.8%, the firm’s balance sheet appears robust, even as it manages the operational complexity of maintaining output across diverse global assets.
