PAM Health to Construct 42-Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in West Columbia

With South Carolina currently ranking as the fastest-growing state in the nation, PAM Health is responding to rising demand by breaking ground on a new 42-bed medical rehabilitation facility in West Columbia. The project, slated for a late 2027 opening, represents the organization's second major expansion within the state.

The facility will provide specialized inpatient care for patients recovering from complex conditions such as traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, strokes, and orthopedic surgeries. Beyond inpatient treatment, the hospital will offer outpatient therapy options, allowing patients to maintain their recovery momentum after returning home. Anthony Misitano, CEO of the Enola-based health system, stated that the expansion aims to deliver high-quality, patient-centered services to the rapidly developing Columbia region.

Beyond clinical impact, the hospital is expected to serve as a significant local economic driver. PAM Health projects the creation of approximately 200 jobs, encompassing a diverse range of clinical, administrative, and support roles. The new site will also integrate the company's workers' compensation rehabilitation programs, providing specialized return-to-work solutions for the region's expanding business sector. This development arrives shortly after the scheduled November 2026 launch of the company’s facility in Aiken, further cementing PAM Health's physical footprint in South Carolina.
