Manhattan Hosts European Wine Celebration for Thousands

More than 2,000 attendees descended on Manhattan on June 8 to explore European viticulture during the Move the Passion event. Spanning three iconic venues, the day-long program blended professional masterclasses with consumer-facing tastings to bridge the gap between Mediterranean producers and the American market.

The event, organized by The Charming Taste of Europe and co-funded by the European Union, focused on the heritage of Abruzzo wines. A specialized masterclass led by Wine Spectator’s Alison Napjus drew 60 industry experts, including sommeliers and buyers, for an analysis of Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo. This technical deep dive was followed by a walk-around tasting hosted by the Consorzio di Tutela Vini d'Abruzzo, which engaged over 200 trade professionals.

As the program shifted toward a public-facing experience, the atmosphere transitioned from boardroom education to lifestyle celebration. Attendees gathered at Hall des Lumières, New York Vintners, and Arlo Soho Rooftop to sample products in a contemporary urban setting. The Blancdenoir Communication Agency, which implemented the campaign, noted that the high turnout reflects a growing appetite among U.S. consumers for the stories and origins behind European exports. The day concluded with an exclusive gala dinner for 40 industry leaders, cementing the project’s goal of strengthening the presence of European wine and gastronomy within the competitive North American landscape.
